On 11th February 2026, the School of Information Technology and the School of Commerce & Economics — now known as the School of Commerce and Computer Applications (formerly Indira College of Commerce & Science) — proudly hosted the 17th Late Shri Shankarrao Wakalkar State Level Debate Competition. The event stood as a remarkable milestone in the institution’s continued commitment to academic excellence and intellectual engagement.

This year’s topic, “Is India a ray of hope in the middle of the global geopolitical imbalance?”, encouraged participants to explore complex global realities with depth, clarity, and confidence. The debate sparked powerful arguments, diverse perspectives, and thoughtful counterpoints, reflecting the awareness and analytical strength of today’s youth.

With more than 60 registrations from institutions across the state, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and a vibrant exchange of ideas. Students articulated their viewpoints with conviction, balancing facts with insight, and passion with reason. The atmosphere was charged with energy, curiosity, and healthy competition.

Over the years, this prestigious debate has evolved into more than just a contest of words.
