Indira University’s School of Commerce and Economics recently hosted a Moot Court Competition for SY and TY B.Com. and B.Com. (Financial Markets) students, an academic exercise that went far beyond theory. It was a space where arguments were tested, perspectives were challenged and confidence was built.

Designed to mirror real life courtroom proceedings, the competition gave students a chance to understand the role of legal professionals, researching cases, building arguments and presenting them with clarity and conviction. From framing submissions to responding under pressure, participants experienced what it truly takes to think on their feet and defend a point of view with logic and depth.

The competition was judged by Advocate Nivruti Chapke and Advocate Umesh Jawalikar, whose presence brought credibility and practical insight to the proceedings. Their feedback went beyond evaluation, offering students a glimpse into legal reasoning, courtroom expectations and the importance of preparation and precision. Their guidance added immense value to the learning experience, making the competition both challenging and rewarding.

The event also celebrated excellence across multiple dimensions.

Advait Bade was awarded Best Mooter for his confident articulation and persuasive argumentation.

Praneet Seelam received the Best Researcher award for his depth of analysis and structured understanding of the case.

The winning team, Shravani Dhabe, Pooja Purohit, and Swadha Pandey, stood out for their teamwork, clarity of thought and strategic approach throughout the competition.

The Moot Court Competition served as a powerful learning platform. It strengthened students’ research capabilities, critical thinking, communication skills and analytical reasoning, competencies that are essential not only in law, but across careers in commerce, finance, corporate roles and public policy. It encouraged students to question assumptions, defend ideas and approach problems with a balanced and informed perspective.
