Two-Day Session on Essentials of Sustainability at Indira University
On 8 & 9 September, first-year students of the School of Information Technology (SOIT) gathered in Dhruv Audi for a two-day session titled โEssentials of Sustainabilityโ. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Bipul Saha, Advisor- Sustainability, Indira University, and Dr. Ashutosh Misal, Director- Sustainability, Indira University, the workshop offered an interesting blend of lecture, discussion, and reflection – all focused on why sustainability matters so critically today, and how each of us can play a role in building a greener future.
Over the course of the two days, the students explored the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability. It was a learning about resource conservation, climate change, waste management, community responsibility, and sustainable technology. Dr. Saha and Dr. Misal emphasized how small changes in daily habits can make our planet better. Low energy use, reduced waste, and mindful consumption can multiply to create a significant impact. The session also focused on how technology and innovation can help drive sustainable solutions, for example, ideas around efficient computing, renewable resources, and designing systems with long-term ecological mindfulness.
There were interactive elements in the session that made it more engaging. The students contemplated in groups, brainstormed, and asked questions. They envisioned real actions they can take on campus and beyond. The energy in Dhruv Audi was positive: students engaged eagerly, sharing their ideas, concerns, and hopes.
The success of the workshop owes much to the passion of our mentors and the enthusiasm of our students. Grateful to all who contributed, we march forward together toward a more sustainable tomorrow – confident that with awareness, intention, and collaboration, even modest efforts can make a difference.
