Thalassemia Awareness Initiative
On 10th February, the School of Information Technology at Indira University took a meaningful step towards building a more informed and compassionate community through a Thalassemia Awareness initiative. More than just an academic engagement, the session was a reminder that awareness has the power to change lives.
Thalassemia, a preventable genetic blood disorder, continues to impact thousands of families. The session focused on the importance of early screening, timely diagnosis, and preventive measures β simple yet crucial steps that can significantly reduce its spread. Students gained a deeper understanding of how informed choices, especially before marriage and parenthood, can play a transformative role in prevention.
We were privileged to host Dr. Liza Bulsara, a distinguished expert in pediatric hematology, who shared her vast experience and compassionate perspective on the subject. Through real-life insights and practical guidance, she emphasized the importance of responsible decision-making and proactive healthcare. Her interaction with students made the discussion both informative and deeply personal, encouraging them to think beyond themselves and towards the wellbeing of society.
At Indira University, initiatives like these reflect our commitment to nurturing not only skilled professionals but also socially responsible individuals. By encouraging awareness-driven action, we aim to empower our students to become advocates of preventive healthcare and contributors to a healthier future.
