Startup Diaries Build Your Brand, Own Your Future
On 6th February, the SheCan Club at Indira University hosted an engaging and insightful session titled Startup Diaries: Build Your Brand, Own Your Future, bringing together aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned leaders for an honest conversation on building meaningful ventures. The session was led by Dr. Tarita Shankar, President Designate – Indira University and Chairperson & Chief Mentor – Indira Group of Institutions, who also serves as the Mentor of the SheCan Club. Her vision and guidance set the tone for a discussion rooted in clarity, purpose, and long-term impact.
The panel featured Mr. Baljeet Gujral, Entrepreneur and Startup Ecosystem Leader, who spoke about navigating uncertainty, building resilient networks, and learning from early-stage failures. Ms. Roheena Nagpal, Entrepreneur and Brand Strategy Consultant, offered valuable perspectives on brand storytelling, differentiation, and the importance of authenticity in creating trust-driven brands.
Mr. Baljeet Gujral shared a deeply personal story about his grandmother, recalling her words, “Chaahogey nahi toh hoga kaise,” and reflecting on how intent and heart are the true starting points of any entrepreneurial journey. He emphasized that if one believes money is the only barrier, it reflects a limiting mindset, urging aspiring founders not to let financial constraints stop their startup dreams. Speaking on entrepreneurial thinking, he highlighted key characteristics such as grit, the ability to make things happen, and the importance of continuously hustling and building strong networks. He also referred to his book Entrepreneurial Essentials, written during the Covid period, and underscored the need for founders to clearly understand how their business will run, remain flexible, and keep pivoting as they grow.
Ms. Roheena Nagpal shared that she always knew she wanted to start her own business and spoke about the importance of learning and unlearning as an entrepreneur. She emphasized the need to learn every day, stay resilient, and not become rigid in one’s thinking, highlighting how adaptability and perseverance play a crucial role in building sustainable ventures.
The session focused on real-world startup journeys, highlighting what truly works beyond theory. Leaders shared practical experiences on how strong brands are built with a clear identity, consistent values, and an understanding of evolving market needs. The discussion explored how ideas mature into sustainable ventures and how challenges—ranging from positioning to scalability—are best addressed through experience-driven strategy rather than shortcuts.
The conversation remained dynamic and candid, encouraging students to think beyond conventional success metrics. The session left participants inspired to own their ideas, build with intention, and shape futures driven by confidence, clarity, and conscious leadership.
