SheCan-Saree-Draping-2

SheCan Club Saree Draping Workshop

The second day of Navratri at SheCanCLUB turned into a celebration of grace and femininity as the SheCan girls immersed themselves in one of the most elegant attires – the saree! The workshop, scheduled on 23rd September, 2025 at Tapasya Auditorium – Indira University, was a delightful blend of tradition and personal expression. A garment that has adorned women for centuries, the saree is like poetry woven in threads, carrying tradition, strength, and beauty. Who better to guide our students into this world than our very own Dr. Tarita Shankar, President Designate – Indira University and Chairperson & Chief Mentor – Indira Group of Institutes.

Dr. Tarita Shankar, with her characteristic warmth and vision, created an atmosphere that was cozy, candid, and deeply moving. She shared her thoughts on the importance of feeling at ease in one’s own skin. She reminded every student that embracing one’s femininity is as empowering as it is graceful. To have a mentor who can boost your confidence, personal style, and the celebration of self is truly commendable.

Mayuri Biyani, a saree draping specialist with 15+ years of expertise, demonstrated multiple draping styles; Regular, Gujarati, Nauvari, Bengali, and even Fusion. Students eagerly stepped forward to try each style, transforming the hall into a vibrant showcase of tradition meeting modern flair.

What unfolded was an intimate bonding experience between mentor and mentees, a celebration of the feminine spirit at the most auspicious time of the year. On these sacred Navratri days, when the divine feminine is worshipped, our girls can now walk away draped in sarees and wrapped in confidence, grace, and a renewed pride in their womanhood. That was the true purpose of the session, to help our girls feel the comfort to nurture into their womanhood, with skills that will serve them well throughout Navratri and beyond.
