School of Business Induction- INITIUM
The School of Business (SOB) at Indira University recently conducted its induction programs β βINITIUMβ for the BBA and MBA batches, aiming to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to academic life, industry insights, and personal development. These programs were meticulously designed to ensure a seamless transition into the world of business education.
The BBA induction program commenced on the 7th of July and concluded on the 9th, spanning three days filled with engaging sessions and activities. The energetic OMT session was designed to foster teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking among students. Participants enthusiastically engaged in games such as Twist-O-Math, where quick mental calculations under time pressure spurred friendly competition, and Hockey Hustle & Hole Roll, which combined coordination and strategy as teams navigated obstacles and timed rolls. The Drip Chain Challenge tested patience and precision, while Stick & Drop encouraged dexterity and steady hands. In Balloon Cup Tower, students collaborated to build the tallest tower using balloons and cups, learning communication and planning under constraints. The session peaked with Relay Rumble: Code Crack, a relay-style activity that blended speed with decoding puzzles, demanding mental agility and team synchronization. Throughout the event, laughter and mutual support were constants, helping new BBA students bond quickly, overcome nervousness, and embrace the collaborative culture of their program.
The MBA induction program spanned over two weeks, from the 16th of July to the 2nd of August, offering an in-depth introduction to the MBA curriculum and professional development. Dr. Kavita Mathad, the Dean of SOB, addressed new students, outlining the vision and mission of the School. The first week focused on academic orientation, where students were introduced to the curriculum, program structures, and assessment methods. This was followed by introductions to the faculty members, providing students with an understanding of the academic support available to them.
Students were given a comprehensive tour of the campus, familiarizing themselves with the various facilities and resources. The day also included presentations from different student clubs, encouraging participation and highlighting the extracurricular opportunities available within the SOB community. The placement orientation session was led by Ms. Madhuri Sathe, Advisor – Corporate Relations, IGI & IU.
Several distinguished speakers and sessions enriched the induction experience. Prof. Chetan Wakalkar, Academic Advisor-IGI and IU, conducted the “Corporate Yodha” session, focusing on leadership and strategic thinking. This workshop delved into the significance of creative quotient, new-age skills, mental resilience, etc., in the corporate world. The students were encouraged to harness their inner strength and overcome challenges in the workplace. It was an enriching experience that left the students feeling empowered and ready to conquer the corporate battlefield.
Industry experts were invited to share their experiences and insights, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Mr. Ritesh Andre, spokesperson for Mumbai Dabbawala, shared insights into their efficient logistics model and customer service excellence. Mr. Mustafa Raj, a motivational speaker, delivered a session on “Unlock Your Potential: Achieving Success,” inspiring students to aim high. Ms. Geeta Poduwal, Founder of Drzya, spoke on “Life Lessons from Specially Abled People,” emphasizing resilience and determination. Mr. Mahesh Kore, UHV Trainer, introduced Universal Human Values, promoting ethical practices and social responsibility.
Ms. Varsha Rai, a nutritionist, also conducted a session on “Balanced Living through Nutrition and Path to Wellness,” highlighting the importance of health. Ms. Sneha Joshi led a session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH), educating students on rights and responsibilities. Mr. Sanket Gandhi, a Zumba trainer, organized a “Dance for Fitness” session, encouraging physical well-being. Dr. Dipanjay Bhalerao, Director – Incubation Centre & Startup Mentor, Swakiyam β Centre for Incubation & Innovation, took a session on fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students.
A highlight of the MBA induction was the three-day Outdoor Management Training (OMT), which proved to be highly insightful. This experiential learning program took place in an outdoor setting, allowing students to engage in different engaging activities, enhancing their interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration, and providing students with real-world business scenarios to navigate.
The combination of academic orientation, industry exposure, and experiential learning ensured that students were well-prepared to embark on their studies at the School of Business.
