Placement Guidance Session at Indira University
“Guiding Parents, Building Bright Futures!”
On 13 September, Indira University organized a Placement Guidance Session at Dhruv Audi especially for the parents and final-year undergraduate students. The event aimed to equip both students and their guardians with essential strategies and insights for securing successful placements upon graduation.
The placement coordinators set the tone by talking about the current job-market landscape across different industries. Ms. Madhuri Sathe, Advisor for Corporate Relations at IGI & IU, highlighted how employer expectations are evolving rapidly. Technical skills are essential—but no longer sufficient on their own. Employers today also demand adaptability, strong communication skills, and a growth mindset. Alongside core academic knowledge, these attributes are increasingly decisive in distinguishing top candidates.
For the parents, the speakers offered practical guidance on how to support their wards: helping them build a strong resume, encouraging participation in internships and projects, setting realistic goals, and creating an environment where the student can practice interview skills at home. It is also important to manage stress, maintain self-confidence, and understand that rejection is often part of the process.
The students were guided on how to thoroughly research companies, carefully review job descriptions, prepare rigorously for aptitude tests, and sharpen both technical and domain-specific skills. They also received advice on how to dress up for the interview and communicate effectively. Emphasis was placed on the value of mock interviews and group discussions—these help build confidence, improve responses, and are often critical in selection processes.
One of the key takeaways was the partnership of parents and students. They must work together, where parents should offer support and provide feedback, and the students should take the initiative to lead to much better outcomes than going it alone.
The ambience at Dhruv Audi was charged with optimism, as many parents reflected how much clearer they now felt about their roles in this crucial phase. Overall, the Placement Guidance Session proved to be informative and motivating, arming students and parents with tools to face the placement season with confidence.
