“Extending Love and Support on IGI Foundation Day”

As part of the IGI Foundation Day celebrations, the School of Information Technology (SOIT) and Indira College of Commerce and Science (ICCS) organized a community outreach initiative with visits to Mai Bhavan and Kalashram orphanages. With active participation from students and faculty members, generous contributions were collected and used to provide essential grocery items, fruits, and sweets to the residents.

The visits brought immense joy to the beneficiaries, which included 26 blind girls and 13 differently-abled children at Mai Bhavan, as well as 90 children and 5 elderly individuals at Kalashram. These interactions not only supported the residents but also left a deep emotional impact on students and staff, fostering empathy, compassion, and a sense of social responsibility.

Guided by Prof. Sumit Sasane and Prof. Vinayak More, the initiative aimed to promote inclusivity, encourage community engagement, and strengthen the bond between educational institutions and society. Through this meaningful experience, students developed greater awareness of diversity while nurturing values of civic responsibility and personal growth.

This noble effort reflects ICCS’s commitment to holistic education and community welfare, ensuring that academic celebrations also serve as an opportunity to give back to society. These visits not only provided immediate relief to the needy but also fostered a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by underprivileged sections of society. The interactions were filled with stories and shared moments that transcended barriers, highlighting the importance of empathy and social responsibility. Such initiatives play a crucial role in bridging societal gaps and promoting inclusivity, ensuring that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, feels valued and supported.
