Kathak Dance Workshop by Groove Club
The Kathak Dance Workshop by Groove Club at Indira University was a beautiful and immersive celebration of rhythm, expression, and India’s rich classical heritage. Held on 5th February 2026, the workshop offered students a rare opportunity to experience Kathak not just as a dance form, but as a powerful medium of storytelling through movement.
With every resonating tatkaar and every nuanced gesture, participants were guided into the intricate world of Kathak, where mathematics meets melody and expression flows through precise technique. The session unfolded with remarkable energy, discipline, and classical charm, creating an atmosphere that was both inspiring and deeply engaging for learners across levels.
The workshop focused on key foundational and expressive elements of Kathak, including footwork and taal, posture and balance, mudras and hastaks, expression and abhinay, and the fascinating relationship between mathematics and rhythm. Students explored how rhythm patterns, body alignment, and facial expressions come together to narrate stories, evoke emotions, and maintain the purity of the form.
The university extends heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Maneesha Abhay and Ms. Siddhi Abhay for their inspiring guidance, patience, and expertise. Their ability to break down complex techniques while preserving the soul of Kathak made the learning experience both enriching and memorable. A special note of thanks goes to Kalyani Ma’am, whose constant support played a vital role in the smooth execution of the workshop.
The Kathak Dance Workshop was truly an enriching experience—one that deepened students’ appreciation for classical dance, strengthened their technical understanding, and celebrated the timeless elegance of Kathak. It stood as a testament to Indira University’s commitment to nurturing art, culture, and holistic learning.
