The School of Pharmacy, Indira University successfully hosted the International Conference on “Avenues and Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Research and Practice” on 13th and 14th January 2026, bringing together eminent academicians, industry leaders, clinicians, and researchers from across the globe. The two-day conference served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and exploration of emerging trends shaping the future of pharmaceutical sciences.

The inaugural day, 13th January 2026, commenced with an enriching blend of online and offline expert sessions, setting a strong intellectual tone for the conference. The online session was delivered by Dr. Matthias Wacker, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences, KU Leuven, Belgium. His lecture on “Biomolecular Transformation of Complex Injectables under Dynamic Physiological Conditions” offered deep scientific insights into advanced drug formulations and their behavior within physiological environments, sparking keen interest among participants.

This was followed by an impactful offline session by Dr. Chirag Trivedi, Global Clinical Early Operational Head, Sanofi, Mumbai. Speaking on “Current Clinical Trial Scenario: A Collaborative Approach from Academia and Industry”, he highlighted the critical need for synergy between academic institutions and the pharmaceutical industry to accelerate innovation, improve trial efficiency, and enhance patient-centric research outcomes.

The day further featured thought-provoking offline sessions by distinguished speakers, including Dr. Mohammed Hisham, Clinical Pharmacist, Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Dr. Pralhad Wangikar, Director and Founder, PRADO – Preclinical Research and Development Organization, Pune. Their lectures on Clinical Pharmacy Services and Preclinical Safety Evaluation emphasized the evolving role of pharmacists in patient care and the importance of robust safety assessment in drug development.

The second day, 14th January 2026, continued the academic momentum with a series of insightful online and offline sessions focused on cutting-edge research and emerging therapeutic strategies.

The online keynote sessions were delivered by Dr. Shilpa Sant, Professor, Department ofx Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois, Chicago. She talked on “Engineered Microenvironments for In Vitro Disease Models and Regenerative Medicine”. While Dr. Kamal Dua, Associate Professor, Discipline of Pharmacy, Graduate School of Health, University of Technology Sydney, Australia delivered an engaging session on “Emerging Therapeutic Interventions in the Treatment of Lung Diseases: Discovery and Roadmap through Interdisciplinary Research”. These lectures showcased the transformative potential of bioengineering, disease modeling, and advanced drug delivery systems.

The conference was further enriched by expert lectures from Dr. Gauri Godbole, Specialist Pharmacist in Aged and Palliative Care, Gosford Hospital, Research Pharmacist at the University of Sydney, and Teaching Associate at Monash University, Australia; Dr. Abhay Harsulkar, Dean Research, INSPIRE, MIT-ADTU, Pune; Dr. Mirza Baig, Professor and Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs – Pharmacy Practice, Women’s College of Pharmacy, Dubai Medical University, UAE; and Dr. Manish S. Lavhale, Managing Director, Pharmazz India Pvt. Ltd., Delhi. Their sessions covered a diverse range of contemporary topics such as Deprescribing, Omics, Simulating Safety, and Pharmacological Innovation in Shock Management, reflecting the breadth and depth of modern pharmaceutical research and practice.

A key highlight of the conference was the poster presentation sessions conducted on both days, which provided the participants an opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas, and receive valuable feedback from experts.

The conference concluded with a valedictory function, marking the successful culmination of two intellectually stimulating days. The event not only reinforced the importance of global collaboration in pharmaceutical sciences but also inspired participants to explore new avenues, embrace interdisciplinary research, and contribute meaningfully to advancements in healthcare.
