The School of Liberal Arts at Indira University once again turned curiosity into experience by hosting an immersive guest lecture on Introduction to Basic Sound Software by the exceptionally talented Mr. Niranjan Pedgavkar, a Music Composer, Director & Sound Engineer.

Hosted on 18th November 2025 in the Hybrid Classroom at Unity Campus, the lecture brought together aspiring creators, storytellers, filmmakers and sound enthusiasts who were eager to understand how sound elevates every medium of expression.

What began as a quiet afternoon quickly transformed into a vibrant learning space, where students discovered how sound is designed and engineered. The session opened with a simple thought, that every piece of media we consume, whether a film, podcast, advertisement or even a voice note, is built on layers of sound that often go unnoticed. And it is in understanding these layers that true creativity begins.

Mr. Pedgavkar walked the audience through the world behind the music, the tools, the textures, the layers and the software that turn ideas into audio art. He didn’t merely demonstrate features; he broke down concepts, shared studio experiences and encouraged students to think of sound as a living medium. From understanding waveforms to exploring industry level interfaces, the session offered clarity and insight in equal measure.

He also highlighted how the demand for sound artists, editors, designers and engineers is rising across media, gaming, entertainment, advertising and digital content. Students realised that sound can be a career path brimming with opportunities for those who want to create and innovate. Many of them interacted with him directly, asking questions about career journeys, software recommendations, creative processes, and even how to build a beginner-friendly home studio.

Many attendees shared that this session helped them see sound production as a powerful blend of art and technology. They left with a stronger sense of direction, newfound motivation, and a clearer understanding of how software proficiency can open doors in dynamic creative industries.
