A Celebration of Rhythm - Kathak–Bollywood Jugalbandi Dance Workshop - The Groove Club
At Indira University, creative expression often finds its place alongside learning. The Kathak–Bollywood Jugalbandi Dance Workshop, organized by the Groove Club on 13th March 2026, offered students an engaging experience where classical tradition met contemporary energy. Titled “From Classical Spins to Bollywood Wins,” the workshop created a vibrant space for students to explore rhythm, movement, and artistic expression.
The session introduced participants to the elegance of Kathak, one of India’s classical dance forms, while blending it with the lively spirit of Bollywood choreography. Students learned the fundamentals of Kathak footwork, including the rhythmic tatkaar, along with graceful spins that define the style. These elements were seamlessly combined with expressive Bollywood dance movements, allowing participants to experience the dynamic fusion known as a Jugalbandi.
Beyond choreography, the workshop focused on building rhythm, coordination, and body awareness. Through guided practice, students explored how classical technique and contemporary performance styles can come together to create a unique dance experience. The session encouraged participants to embrace expression, develop posture and stage presence, and move with confidence.
The highlight of the workshop was a short Kathak–Bollywood fusion routine, where students brought together everything they had learned during the session. The energy in the room reflected enthusiasm, creativity, and a shared appreciation for the beauty of dance.
At Indira University, such initiatives add a lively dimension to campus life, encouraging students to discover new forms of expression and cultural appreciation. The Kathak–Bollywood Jugalbandi Dance Workshop was a reminder that when tradition and modernity come together, they create an experience that is both enriching and joyful.
